The tournament

What is AAU
& why does it matter

AAU — the Amateur Athletic Union — is the most respected independent basketball competition pathway in the world. Born in the United States, it operates outside of school or club structures and is where serious athletes go to test themselves against the best of the best.

For Australian athletes, competing in an AAU tournament is a rare opportunity. It means playing against a different standard of competition — faster, more physical, more structured — in an environment that mirrors what elite international pathways look like. It's the kind of experience that accelerates development in ways that local domestic competition simply can't replicate.

The national AAU tournament in Brisbane brings together the best programs from across Australia. Your athlete won't just be competing — they'll be seen.
